9 Z0 BRAKES AND WHEELS VI transparent container partiallyfilled with clean brake 5 Hold combination metering valve open On jliliri Open screw J 4 limi Have helper depress brake Cherokee Wagoneer and Truck models install Tool pevlnl Close bleeder screw lxejbre pedal reaches end of J 23709 as described in step 4 of Manual Bleeding tru el Home helper pump up pedal each time bleeder Procedure fig 9 11 On CJ models remove the brake s i eu is closed to ensure ii good surge nfjluid at the warning switch wire switch terminal plunger and bleevler se vu when onlne is reopened Repeat bleed spring from the combination valve before bleeding the process untilflzurl comes out iii u solid stream without system hc presence ot mr bubbles 5 Bleed brake system in following sequence ar Left front wheel CAUTION Do not allow master cylinder to exhaust b Right f 0h wheel its suppl r f bH h e fl11id Check fluid leiieljrequently C Left rear wheel while bleeding uw rehll as required D0 not bleed ld Right FGM Wheel two wheels ot ii time and do not bleed system with 4 uIip4 rsorrlrums notirl plute NOTE When using pressure equipment bleeding procedure is the same as outlined in step 5 of Man fi Remove master cylinder cover and refill as ual Bleeding Procedure euccept that u helper is not required Fill reservoir to within 1 4 inch of reservoir required lo depress the brake pedal The pressure rim Install cover Make sure cover retainer is in place bleeder develops enough system pressure to permit 7 For Cherokee Wagoneer and Truck remove bleedillg wiM ml theliseafthe b akel ed l combination valve tool On CJ models reinstall lllungm Spmng and temlmal m Valve 7 When system has been purged of all air turn lm Test brake l mu before mwmg v hl l off pressure bleeder and close release valve S Disconnect pressure bleeder hose at adapter fitting and remove master cylinder cover adapter 0 I 9 Refill master cylinder reservoirs to within 1 4 SATEQNT DN V inch of reservoir rim w 10 Install cover and rubber diaphragm Make sure i cover retainer is in place C 11 On Cherokee Wagoneer and Truck remove i combination valve tool and tighten mounting bolt On CJ models reinstall plunger spring and terminal in it l valve I N l 12 Test brake operation before moving vehicle TOOL V 4 FITTING HOSE lf K s i r FI 9 11 Mmrlng Soctlnn Null 0p n Tool lnr1aII 1 Pressure Bluarilng Prn niur I Aoneren 1 Clean any accumulated dirt from master cylin der cover N rk 2 Remove cover and rubber diaphragm seal V Q Place cover on work bench or on lint free cloth Do not isi allow diaphragm to contact dirt or foreign material 7 he ii 3 Fill master cylinder ifrequired V T 4 Install brake bleeder adapter cover on master x MASTER I yi cylinder fig 9 12 Connect hose from pressure A UUNDER bleeder to fitting on adapter and open release valve on pressure bleeder Flu 9 12 Pr uur II i rArIap1 rIn 11II l
